Blue Monday: 5 tips to make it a little less blue
January 20th, is officially ‘Blue Monday’ – the most depressing day of the year.
But it doesn’t have to be, here are a few suggestions to make it a little less blue:
1. Connect with people
Be around people who care about you or strike up a conversation with someone new. This is a sure-fire way to improve your mood.
2. Do nice things for others
If you want to feel good, do good! Helping others makes us happier and healthier, take a look.
3. Make fun plans
Monday mornings can be a real drag sometimes. However, they can be made a little better if you have something to look forward to later that day. So, break the normal Monday routine (if you have one) and do something different.
4. Be productive
I don’t want to make this sound easier than it is, but if you can push yourself and others to have a super successful Monday, you’ll not only feel good, but you will probably feel more positive about the rest of the week.
5. Exercise
When you exercise your body releases chemicals called Endorphins. Endorphins help bring about feelings of euphoria and general well-being.
So, try and fit in some exercise where you can. A brisk 10 minute walk at lunchtime would be a great addition to your day.
